A dramatic cliff-face walk in County Antrim, which was designed and built more than a century ago, will re-open to the public later. The Gobbins coastal path in Islandmagee opened in 1902 and quickly became famous as a white-knuckle walk, allowing Edwardian visitors to have a close encounter with waves and wildlife. The Gobbins Cliff Path Walk We recently took part in a guided tour along the Gobbins Cliff Path. It is located in Islandmagee, Co. Antrim and is just over 1.5 hours drive from Dundalk. The original path at The Gobbins was opened in 1902 and was the brain child of Berkeley Deane Wise, Chief Engineer of the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway Company who wanted to use the recently expanded railway line to attract visitors to this spectacular part of Ireland.
