This is one of my all-time favourite meditation studies. Researchers asked novices to meditate for 20 minutes a day for 8 weeks. They had blood samples taken before and after. It turned out that meditation had impacted 1,561 genes (874 turned up in expression and 687 turned down). A similar pattern was found in expert meditators, where 2,209 genes were impacted.
