The Venezuelan troupial (the yellow and black bird seen in the foreground) is the national bird of Venezuela and as such, is highly protected there. In other parts of its range, however, the species is poached for the pet trade. Their diet consists mostly of bugs, fruit and seeds, but they will also consume the nectar of several species of flowers, so are considered pollinators.
