GENESIS . . . So much of surfing's origins are lost in the mists of time. Over time the Victorian surfing story has been revealed, particularly in response to an article written by Rod Brooks. Rod had reported how Ainsly "Sprint" Walker (Tommy Walker's nephew (Tommy is the first person documented (thus far) to surf in Australia) was the first person to surf in Victoria, travelling by ferry from Melbourne to Portsea and surfing at the back beach.
