TWO PEOPLE TRANSPORTED FOLLOWING HEAD-ON PHYSICAL RESCUE CRASH ON THE PCH BY MUGU ROCK: At 3:36pm on Tuesday afternoon, August 16 of 2022, a head-on vehicle crash occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway near the Mugu Rock in South Coast. The CHP, Federal and Oxnard and Ventura County Fire Departments, and Gold Coast paramedics were dispatched to respond. Two vehicles, a silver Honda CRV and a dark colored sedan, were found in traffic lanes. At least one person was trapped as a result of the crash.

As part of the final phase of their academy, firefighter trainees face realistic scenarios designed to test their skills and decision-making. In this scenario, trainees responded to a simulated victim located approximately 50 feet down a rocky slope near the water’s edge. They assessed the patient, provided medical care, and successfully performed a low-angle rope rescue using a stokes basket to bring the patient safel
