Jan 17, 2025 · Governor Murphy through Executive Order 28, established the goal of setting New Jersey on the path to 100% clean energy by 2050. Building upon that goal, in 2019, Executive Order #92 effectively raised New Jersey’s offshore wind goal from 3,500 megawatts by 2030 to 7,500 megawatts by 2035.

Under Governor Murphy’s leadership, New Jersey has established an ambitious goal of generating 11 GW of electricity from offshore wind energy by 2040 as part of the State’s Energy Master Plan to transition to 100 percent clean energy by 2035.

The New Jersey Wind Port is the United States’ first purpose-built offshore wind port in Lower Alloways Creek, bringing new jobs and investments to New Jersey, particularly in South Jersey and Salem County.
