Jan 3, 2025 · To apply for SNAP, contact your state or local SNAP office. Depending on your state, you may be able to submit a food stamp application online, in person, by mail, or by fax.

SNAP provides food benefits to low-income families to supplement their grocery budget so they can afford the nutritious food essential to health and well-being.

Recipients are issued an "EBT Card" similar to a bank ATM or debit card to receive and use their food stamp and/or cash benefits. Benefits are automatically deposited onto the card by the State.
