Rocco Vata netted a lovely opener, twisting and driving past the visitors' goalkeeper. Watford scored a superb equaliser from around 30 yards, but that did not dent Fulham's resolve. They came back re-energised in the second half and ran away with it, their non-stop attacking never waning in intensity and tormenting the Watford back five.

The Premier League outfit proved to be too good for their Championship opponents, but this match should never have been played when it was
