A judge intends to rule this week on a plan for local governments and individual victims to vote on OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma’s plan to settle thousands of lawsuits over the toll of opioids.

Local governments and the State of Iowa are expected to receive $37.8 million from a multi-billion dollar settlement with Purdue Pharma, the makers of OxyContin, and its owners, the Sackler family, after the settlement was finalized Wednesday.

More states, territories and Washington, D.C., have signed on to a settlement with drugmaker Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family over the opioid crisis, officials said.
