Millions of people turned out for "No Kings" protests nationwide on Saturday that were largely peaceful though there were some arrests and police had to disperse unruly crowds, including in Georgia and Los Angeles.

Authorities in Virginia arrested a 21-year-old man they said intentionally drove an SUV through the crowd at the town's "No Kings" day event.

“We’re standing up for the rule of law, for due process, for constitutional government,” he said.

The protests coincide with a large-scale military parade in Washington, D.C. to mark the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, which also lands on President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

The protests, under the banner “No Kings”, were America’s largest in years.
