A 6-year-old boy who was missing in New Port Richey was found dead, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office announced.

A 6-year-old boy who was reported missing on Thursday has been found dead, the Pasco Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday.

The parents of the child said he had severe autism and was non-verbal. He was found in a nearby pond in a gated community down the road, the parents said.

New Port Richey officially turns 100 on October 27th, but the celebration begins Saturday with music and fireworks at Simms Park.
