While a Gulf disturbance that moved into Texas on Friday seems to have run its course, Hurricane Erin in the western Atlantic intensifies.

Hurricane Erin rapidly intensified into a Category 4 storm over the Atlantic, doubling wind speeds in 24 hours and threatening the Caribbean with heavy rain.

Erin became the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season on Friday and was expected to continue strengthening, forecasters said.
