In Rio Blanco County, the Lee Fire has grown over 116,000 acres and is now the 5th largest in Colorado history, and the Elk Fire has burned nearly 15,000 acres. On Monday, the Crosho Fire sparked near Crosho Lake in Rio Blanco County, and it has grown to over 100 acres overnight and crept into Routt County.

A new fire in Rio Blanco County near its border with Routt County is burning 300 acres near Crosho Lake and has prompted campground evacuations and pre-evacuation orders for nearby homes.

Firefighters are starting to gain ground against the Lee Fire burning in Rio Blanco and Garfield counties, which has grown to become the fifth-largest wildfire in Colorado history.

RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo. — The Lee Fire in Rio Blanco County has grown to the sixth largest in Colorado history, according to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. The fire was mapped with infrared technology at more than 106,000 acres as of Sunday.

Two major wildfires are burning in Rio Blanco County. The Lee Fire, which grew over the weekend to more than 113,000 acres, now stands as the 5th largest wildfire in Colorado state history. It’s only 7 percent contained. The nearby Elk Fire is just over 14,000 acres and just 30 percent contained.

One of the fires burning now more than 100,000 acres in Rio Blanco County in northwest Colorado continues to grow during ongoing “near-critical fire weather” conditions.
