Mayfield previously played under Coen during a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams late in the 2022 season, and the signal-caller was directly involved in Tampa Bay choosing Coen as Dave Canales' replacement last winter. While working with Coen and Grizzard, Mayfield produced the best regular-season stats of his career.
