The Virginia Lottery is warning the public of scammers promoting a special international drawing for Mega Millions that is fake.

Lottery officials warn of scammers impersonating Mega Millions online by using the game’s logo to promote a fake drawing. According to Virginia Lottery officials, false lottery scams can take many forms.

In January 2016, a couple from Melbourne Beach bought a ticket at a Publix store and ended up winning part of the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot. At the time, this was the biggest jackpot in Powerball history. They shared the prize with winners in Tennessee and California.
