LAS VEGAS — The Celtics opened Las Vegas Summer League play with a 92-78 win over the Grizzlies on Friday. First-round pick Hugo Gonzalez tallied 12 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks, and third-year forward Jordan Walsh had 17 points. Center Charles Bassey, a late addition to the roster, added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

LAS VEGAS — A balanced effort on both ends of the floor and sharp offensive performances from Jordan Walsh and Charles Bassey powered the Boston Celtics to a 92-78 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in an NBA 2K26 Summer League battle at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.

Gonzalez made his Celtics debut in the Friday win over the Grizzlies as the C’s improved to 1-0 at Las Vegas. The 19-year-old wing swooped in for a put-back layup off a missed 3-pointer on the first possession of the game — he was off from there. Turns out, that play helped him get into the rhythm of the game.

Grizzlies rookies Cedric Coward, Jahmai Mashack and Javon Small all missed the game against the Celtics. Coward hasn't been seen with the Grizzlies in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas yet while he continues to get back to full strength from a shoulder injury.

Horford has been heavily linked to the Warriors on the open market as Golden State star Stephen Curry also hinted as much recently. Boston may not be done making big trades this summer, even after moving off the contracts of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
