A federal judge in Boston Wednesday is allowing the Trump administration to move forward with its federal worker buyout program for the moment.

A federal judge lifted a previous order pausing the program Wednesday. Soon afterward, the Office of Personnel Management announced the program was closed.

The buyout is one of many approaches Trump is taking to slash a civilian workforce of 2.3 million that he has blasted as ineffective and biased against him.

The order reinstates the program that offered federal workers eight months of pay and benefits if they voluntarily resigned.
