The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of the Chicago area Friday, with wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour in the forecast. The warning comes as wind advisories and high wind watches were also been issued across the Chicago area both Friday and Saturday.

In Oklahoma, red flag warnings are issued when conditions such as high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds create a heightened risk of wildfires, urging residents to take extra precautions.

Texas will experience wind gusts of up to 55 mph in parts on Wednesday, while relative humidity will plummet to as low as six percent.

Six states have been placed under expanded red flag warnings amid a severe weather outbreak in the U.S. this weekend that could trigger "catastrophic grassland fire danger" for affected areas.

Many wildfires in eastern Oklahoma have already sparked this March, and this week, the state will begin moving toward ‘extreme’ wildfire level risk.

A high wind warning and red flag warning are in place for most of North Texas. Frequent wind gusts of 50-55 mph, with isolated gusts up to 60-65 mph, are expected, posing risks for high-profile vehicles and increasing the extreme fire threat due to low humidity.
