The Chicago Street Course race has been part of the NASCAR Cup schedule since 2023 in a bold move to bring street racing to the top level of the sport. However, after three years, the event will not return in 2026. It's worth noting that the door remains open for a possible return in 2027.

In a letter Friday to Mayor Brandon Johnson, NASCAR said it is pausing the race because it needs more time to reschedule the event and further reduce the buildout and breakdown time of the pop-up

NASCAR will not host the Chicago Street Race in 2026. The city and the sanctioning body are exploring options for the future. The last three seasons, including this year, NASCAR has raced the Cup and Xfinity Series on the streets of the Windy City.
