The Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl for a third consecutive year after beating the Buffalo Bills in a hard- fought AFC championship game.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs took down the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game to punch its ticket to the Big Game for the third straight season.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid appeared to acknowledge the controversial fourth-down call in his postgame presser when he noted how "lucky" his team was to come away with a win. "Literally a game of inches today. We were lucky to be on that side of it today. We had the most inches," Reid said.
The Chiefs and Eagles will now face off in the Super Bowl in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII in 2023. The Chiefs won that game, 38-35 for the first of two consecutive Super Bowl titles and their third in five seasons. They'll now face the Eagles for a second time in their quest for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.
The three-peat dream is alive — and a win against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 — from fruition after a 32-29 win Sunday against Buffalo in the AFC Championship Game.
The Eagles, meanwhile, will be in search of their second Super Bowl victory after the franchise's first with a win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in 2018. They'll return to the Super Bowl with familiar faces from 2023, including head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
