Several members of the Texas Legislature are expressing their support after Gov. Greg Abbott asked the federal government to reimburse Texas for money it spent securing the border during the Biden administration.

It was a change from the Republican governor's legal battles with the Biden administration. Abbott spent the last four years testing a state's ability to enforce immigration law — at times at odds with Border Patrol.

The Texas governor said the additional troops will work alongside federal border agents as part of Trump's efforts to seize the offensive.
