RIO VISTA, Calif. — Another Solano County city is entering the conversation about a potential partnership with the proposed new city, California Forever.

The Arizona Senate Wednesday passed Senate Bill 1309, which aims to prevent California-style blackouts. The vote was 17 to 12. One senator did not vote. State Sen. Frank Carroll, R-Rio Vista, introduced this bill earlier in February to ensure Arizonans have a power supply during the hot summer months.

Two Rio Vista residents, Michael Reinath and Linda Gifford, were killed in a midair collision at Marana Regional Airport, Arizona, on February 19, 2025. The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
