A JetBlue plane narrowly avoided a potential mid-air collision with a US military aircraft during a recent flight, prompting renewed questions about airspace coordination and cockpit decision-making.

JetBlue is adding a major new travel option for Northeast Florida in 2026. Nonstop flights from Jacksonville International Airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico, will begin March 13. The new route expands JetBlue’s Caribbean service and restores a full-time connection Jacksonville hasn’t had in more than a decade.

The celebration continued with festivities until 1:19 p.m., when boarding began for Flight 1716's 1:49 p.m. flight back to JFK.
