The Union Cabinet on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) congratulated astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla for the successful completion of his historic 18-day mission aboard the International Space Station and asserted that it heralded a new chapter in India's space programme.

After his space mission, Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's first non-space food was a rehydration solution, followed by a gradual reintroduction to normal food.

Shubhanshu Shukla is the first Indian to step aboard the ISS and only the second Indian to go into space, following Rakesh Sharma's iconic flight in 1984. Shukla, a 39-year-old Indian Air Force officer and test pilot,
