KYIV – A Russian missile attack killed at least 16 people, including six children, in a residential area of the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih on Friday, local officials said, but Russia's Defense Ministry said it had targeted a military gathering in the city.

All of Ukraine was under air alerts as of 0200 GMT after the country's air force warned of an attack including on regions bordering Poland, forcing the NATO-member to scramble aircraft to ensure air safety.

The attacks were among the deadliest on Kryvyi Rih since the start of the war in 2022 and come as U.S. President Trump pushes for a ceasefire.
