Yankees ace Max Fried settled into a groove on the mound, pitching six innings of one-run ball to earn the win. He’s now 5-0 this season with a 1.43 ERA, the sixth-lowest ERA of any qualified pitcher in MLB as of Sunday afternoon.

It helped that Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman imploded in a six-run third, as the Yankees pulled away for an 11-2 victory in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader in The Bronx. The Yankees trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the third, but drew five walks and got a three-run double from Austin Wells.
