The New Orleans Saints lost two players to waiver claims on Wednesday, but they added a rival team's wide receiver and claimed a Broncos rookie OL:

The New York Giants may have found their quarterback of the future in Jaxson Dart, and the rookie’s early success could put veteran Russell Wilson on the trade block.

The Giants cut kick returner/wide receiver Gunner Olszewski and cornerback Korie Black, a seventh-round pick, to make room for Payton and Brade. Expect Olszewski back on the roster soon as this seems like roster gymnastics. Black is probably headed to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The New Orleans Saints could have an interest in trading for New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito if he isn't released.

The New York Giants announced their initial 53-man roster yesterday, but they've already made two key adjustments through waivers. Today, they added defensive backs Beau Brade and Rico Payton to address depth in their secondary.

The Saints added former Buccaneers receiver Trey Palmer and former Broncos offensive lineman Xavier Truss on waivers, meaning they will have to create two spots on the 53-man roster for them. Former Saints D'Marco Jackson and Rico Payton landed with the Bears and Giants, respectively.

Payton (illness) was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Payton was waived by the Saints on Tuesday but found a new home in the Big Apple. Through 16 games last season, Payton mostly played on special teams but recorded 11 tackles (six solo). He'll likely serve in a similar role in New York.

After making their claims, the Giants were awarded safety Beau Brade and cornerback Rico Payton off of waivers. Following the 2024 NFL draft, the 23-year-old Brade signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Maryland, where he was a teammate of current Giants cornerback Deonte Banks.

The New York Giants deployed the same waiver claim strategy as last year, following the 2025 53-man roster cutdown.

According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the New England Patriots have claimed former Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito off waivers. DeVito, who spent two seasons with the Giants, finished the preseason completing 78.9% of his passes (30 of 38) in the team’s three preseason games for 323 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.
