Gov. Jeff Landry celebrated improvements in Louisiana students’ rankings in the Nation’s Report Card. Results from the national test show how fourth-grade and eighth-grade students scored in math and reading proficiency.

Louisiana made big gains on a closely watched national test, with its 4th graders leading the country in reading progress and the state climbing to its highest spot ever in national rankings.

Louisiana students have achieved some of the most significant academic progress in the nation, according to data released today as part of The Nation’s Report Card.

"We believe that we are placing adequate resources into the state coffers to ensure stability for the time being," said Landry's statement, which was issued jointly with state Senate President Cameron Henry, state House Speaker Phillip DeVillier and state Treasurer John Fleming.
