Karen Read's defense rested its case after a biomechanical engineer told jurors John O'Keefe's injuries were inconsistent with a car crash.
After the defense wrapped up its questioning of Rentschler, Prosecutor Hank Brennan told the judge he did not plan to call any more witnesses, reversing an earlier request to recall a different crash expert. The lawyers agreed to begin their closing arguments at 9 a.m. Friday. They'll then hand the case to the jury.
Before her second trial even began, accused murderer Karen Read owned her attorneys more than $5 million in deferred fees.
After nearly two months of testimony, Karen Read’s retrial for the murder of her boyfriend John O’Keefe is in its final days. The defense has now rested its case, without Read taking the stand. NBC News’ Emilie Ikeda reports.
