America has faced devastating tornadoes throughout its history. The Tri-State Tornado of 1925 remains the deadliest. Many of these catastrophic storms struck before advanced warning systems existed.

CARBONDALE - The author of a new book about the 1925 Tri-State Tornado that cut a path of devastation across Missouri, Illinois and Indiana will sign copies of the book in Carbondale this weekend.

Meteorologists said this week that a deadly tornado in North Dakota this summer has been upgraded to a top-of-the-scale EF5, and was the first on American soil in 12 years.
