WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Three people, including an 8-month-old infant, were fatally shot at a Utah carnival after two groups got into an argument, police said. Police officers working at WestFest at Centennial Park in West Valley City saw the two groups Sunday night.
A Minnesota state lawmaker was assassinated in an allegedly "politically motivated" attack on Saturday. Utah leaders said there has been an uptick of verbal threats against lawmakers in the state. Utah officials of both parties condemned divisive rhetoric that can lead to political violence.
One of the hikers “managed to find a small ledge, just enough space to hold on while waiting for help,” troopers said.
